Drugs impact the health of a young adult because they affect not only the physical development and the brain, but they also carry psychological implications. Drug addictions have negative impacts on teenagers. There are different types of drugs and different reasons as to why individuals begin to experiment with them. Young adults do not deal with the problems in their lives that cause them to use drugs. Difficult family situations often influence teens to search for other means of comfort and contentment.
It would also be a solution for the overpopulation of the prisons. Instead of going out stopping the more violent young criminals, the justice system decides to waste space and money keeping people who have served forty to fifty years in prison. It makes more sense to have criminals serve slightly less sentences, but have them rehabilitated while in prison. This overcrowding though, is forcing prisons to let go of real criminals because of lack of space. If drugs were legalized this could reduce those drug users sentences, and allow more space for people that commit serious crimes. It is safer to let go of drug users because they are less likely to cause harm to other people.
Another factor that could cause addiction is being pressured by peers. People want to fit in and find commonality with their friends. So, they may experiment with drugs and or alcohol or use them recreationally, which can lead to addiction. And finally, addiction can be caused by the state of mind in an individual.
